Who Are We?
Black Parade aims to create stories by fostering inclusive spaces that intentionally support filmmaking by marginalized communities, specifically Black femmes.
Founded: 2024
Based in: Chicago, IL
In creating this space, we are committed to participating in humanizing, ethical practices that honor the individuals of those who work with us, no matter their identity. We are aware that with proactive practices in place, harm can still be unavoidable, and we vow to address any harm done in our spaces with care and action. We strive to make space for Black creatives and welcome those of any background who will share that same aspiration.
We are committed to respecting the nuanced experiences of the Black community. Not only do we want to create art, but we want to collaborate in creating quality works. This means allowing room for growth and experience-gaining opportunities to bridge the gap for those who have been otherwise isolated from the grander filmmaking community. We are committed to creating our own standards, rather than following those set by the same people who have not allowed us to participate in reaching them.
